For a week there will be no trains going between Utrecht – Rotterdam, and Utrecht – The Hague. For those of you who travel these routes frequently, here are the alternative options.
No trains for a week
Starting today there will be no trains running between Utrecht and Rotterdam, as well as Utrecht and The Hague. The lines will be closed until the 6th of August due to maintenance on the track. However, for the people who need to travel between these routes there will be buses instead. There is also a possibility to detour via stations Leiden Centraal, Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam Zuid or Den Bosch, however this may add up to half an hour extra to your travels.
Why will there be no trains?
The reason for this inconvenience, is due to maintenance on the track around Gouda. According to NOS, around 75% of the railway around Gouda will be renewed. This can only be done if there is absolutely no train traffic between Utrecht and Rotterdam, as well as The Hague. The reason why the maintenance is being done now, is because of the summer holidays. Many people are currently on holiday, which means there won’t be as many people using the trains in order to get to work.
However, if you’re still in the Netherlands for the upcoming week and will be using the train services, then you can check on the NS website whether your commute will be affected in any way by this maintenance.
