Valentine’s Day in the Netherlands: Not much to say
You are dating a Dutchie and not sure what to do or to get for Valentine’s day? The answer is probably easier than you think: nothing. Or maybe a card. Here are some ideas to celebrate the Valentine’s Day in the Netherlands like a true Dutch:
What to get to your Dutch valentine?
Say it with flowers
According to Royal FloraHolland, turnover on the second week of February is much higher compare to normal weeks, from 80 million euros to a whopping 125 million euros. A juicy business that makes a lot of valentines happy in the UK, Germany and France, as they are the biggest export destinations.
Plan your escape
If you want to make an exception and go big this year, then why not have a short getaway? Just leave the greyness and cold of February behind us for a moment and let’s focus on the one thing that truly matters:
cheese love! And the best place to have it all? (Yes, the cheese AND the love) come over to Scheveningen, our fav Dutch beachtown.
You can take a ride on the ferris wheel, go to the Sea Life, end the day at a nice restaurant then head back home (we know you too well dear frugal Dutchie).
So tell us, what are your plans for tonight? Netflix and chill, home made dinner, or night out?
If you are planning on going to the restaurant, I hope you thought of making a reservation: the Dutch might not spend the most on presents, but they sure enjoy a nice dinner out.
