Winter in Scheveningen – Cycle into the New Year

Days are shorter, cold days -and even a bit of hail and snow- are here and summer already feels like it was centuries ago. Despite all the gloominess, winter is not an excuse to stay indoors! There are still plenty of things to do during the winter in Scheveningen!

Winter in Scheveningen: Get up and get moving with Pier to Pier Beach Ride!

We all know that the Dutchies love their biking. So much that they not only do it for transportation but as a hobby as well!

If you are a cycling enthusiasts, sports lover or just someone who enjoys watching sport events no matter what the weather is like; then grab your scarf and gloves to join all the others for Pier to Pier Beach Ride at the picturesque beach of Scheveningen!

The Pier to Pier Race will take place on 30 December 2017 as the the final event of the North Sea Beach Series, which consists of 3 main races that were on 28th October and 23rd December, all held along the sea.

You don’t have to cycle to join the fun, just grab your doggo!

The Trail

The Beach Ride starts under the Pier of Scheveningen. The race follows the route to Katwijk and after passing the Waterkering, the contestants will cycle till they reach Noordwijk. After the turning point at Noordwijk, the cyclists will race back to the Pier where the finishing line is located. Sure, it may sound all nice but don’t let it fool you because the whole race is -only- about 40 kilometers!

For the brave one’s who are always up for a fun challenge, make sure to register until Wednesday, 27 December via their own website.

The ticket price for Pier to Pier Beach Ride is 20 euros per beach trip but the all the fun you’ll have is surely priceless 😉
