The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam has collaborated with footwear (and clothing) brand Vans to create a footwear collection with inspiration from Van Gogh’s famous artwork.
You may have seen stuff about this over the past month or so, but these high-quality print shoes are very exciting. It was a fantastic idea as proceeds go to the Van Gogh Legacy and Collection of Art.
What do they look like?
It’s not just Vans shoes, but a whole collection of different items including jackets, hats, backpacks, shirts and bomber jackets. All of these items have incorporated his drawings such as Sunflowers, Almond Tree and Skull prints. The Vans items even have a special tag on them which provided you with historical facts about the artwork – it’s seriously cool.
Everybody else seemed to think the same too as when the collection went on sale on the 3rd August, it sold out instantly. The Van Gogh Museum ticket shop says:
“We are very sorry for the inconvenience and technical difficulties we experienced on our webshop yesterday. Due to overwhelming interest in the final small batch of Vans x Van Gogh Museum items quickly sold out and not everyone was able to get hold of their favourite item. A limited amount of stock is still available. When an item is not visible on this page, it means it has already sold out.”

Vans shoes
It’s all about the shoes. If you haven’t seen them yet, then check them out because I fell in love the minute I saw them (I’m actually gutted I missed the sale, I was away). These were by far the most popular and sold out straight away. There were only 5 designs such as: a letter that Van Gogh wrote to his brother Theo, a Skull design, an Almond Blossom design and Sunflowers. Some snapback hats and backpacks also incorporated the same design.
Not EVERYTHING is sold out yet (the shoes are for sure), but check out their webshop to see what’s available.
