TU Eindhoven is opening all of their vacancies for the next year and a half only for women

TU Eindhoven will only be opening all of their academic staff vacancies to women for the next year and a half. This is to try and tackle the large gender divide within the university and to attempt to make it more balanced.

Women are majorly underrepresented and TU Eindhoven wants to change this by encouraging more women to apply and work in their university. According to NOS, this is all part of the Irène Curie Fellowship. Along with the added bonus of being able to apply as a woman, they will also allocate research money and a mentor for them. Hopefully, this should make the gender balance more even. They believe that this will improve their workplaces.

How many women do they want to employ?

According to Omroep Brabant, the university is aiming to have 20% of female professors next year, along with 25% female senior lecturers and 35% female teachers. This will not be possible without only opening applications to women – so you can see that the percentages of women in the university must be pretty damn low if that’s after the ‘women only’ applications.

This will take place for the next year and a half, then vacancies will open as normal. TU Eindhoven is praying that this is what they need to secure a more balanced workplace.
