Two more minor earthquakes occurred in Groningen last night

There were two more minor earthquakes that occurred at Groningen last night, although they were much lesser in magnitude (0.9 and 1.1) than the one that occurred last morning (3.4), reports KNMI.

The epicenter for both times was the city of Groningen, reports AD. They occurred at a depth of 3 km, with similar ones hitting the province the thirteenth and fourteenth times this month.

Damage from the earthquakes

The Temporary Committee on Mining Damage Groningen (TCMG) have received a total of 593 claims for damage, with 25 reports of a “potentially acute unsafe situation”. However, according to TCMG, there is no need for security measures to be undertaken at the moment.

The damage reports mostly came from the municipality of Groningen with 294 reports, Het Hogeland with 109, Loppersum with 61 and a dozen more from the province of Drenthe.
