What is a lenticular print?
Lenticular printing is a technology in which lenticular lenses are used to produce printed images with an illusion of depth. This kind of technology is also used for 3D displays. It gives a display the ability to change or move as the image is viewed from different angles. Sounds trippy, yet so awesome!
When can I see this awesome lenticular print?
Right now you can experience BEYOND, the largest lenticular print in the world at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam. More specifically, you can find this display at Departure Hall 3. This 100-meter long wall of clouds is inspired by the old 17th-century masters of painting. Because there is currently construction at the hall, a large empty wall was created. Schiphol airport decided to take advantage of this opportunity and contacted architect Daan Roosegaarde to give a uniqueness to this blank wall. Hence, the world’s largest lenticular print was created.
So if by any chance you’re going on vacation within the next few weeks, it will be totally worth going through Departure Hall 3, even if that’s not where you’re supposed to be. Not to mention that it looks so cinematic and aesthetic. It’s the perfect Instagram material!
