Want to experience a fresh take on a precious piece of history? Check out this Dieric Bouts exhibition at Leuven’s “New Horizons” festival!
Mysterious, evasive, and rich — those are just some of the adjectives used to describe Bouts’ hauntingly beautiful, timeless works of art. 🖼
A Renaissance artist, Bouts was born in Haarlem and used the urban renewal experienced in Leuven, Belgium, as inspiration for his varied and dynamic masterpieces. 🎨
Though the Flemish artist was an esteemed commander of the paintbrush back in the 1400s, over five centuries later, his captivating artwork still holds true. 🖌
As part of the exhibition, titled “Dieric Bouts. Creator of Images”, visitors can reflect on his work with a “totally new perspective”, and we’re ready for it to give us goosebumps! ✨
Back in the day, Bouts was exploring “new horizons” himself — and the producers of the “New Horizons” city festival certainly are too.
Running from October through January, the exhibition offers extensive, reimagined versions of the Dutch painter’s body of work.
How are they doing this exactly? There will be sports photographers, filmmakers and game developers to spice up Bouts’ art with a “radical confrontation with today’s visual culture”. Yup, sign us up! 🙋♀️
