Dive into Indonesian culture at this lively cultural event in Leiden

When the sun is out and summer is in full swing, there’s nothing better than enjoying a cultural fair that combines Indonesian art, history, and food.

On Saturday, August 30, Wereldmuseum Leiden is organising the annual Pasar Leiden, which brings visitors the stories, tastes, and spirit of Indonesian culture.

The event started in 2022 and has since grown to be one of the most unique cultural festivals in the city. This year, for the first time, visitors can enjoy an even bigger location right by Wereldmuseum Leiden.

What can you look forward to?

As with any great event, there will be markets and food stalls with delicious food to try. On top of that, visitors can expect:

• 🎨 A cultural corner: Connect with artists, artisans, and cultural organisations from the Indonesian diaspora.
• 🕵️‍♂️ A deep dive into Indonesian history: Enjoy intimate performances and lectures, and learn more about the history and culture of Indonesia.
• 👀 Special guided museum tours: See the Wereldmuseum’s Indonesian collection from a new perspective and find out how the objects on display reflect the country’s history.
• 🎼 A rich music programme: Listen to traditional tunes as well as contemporary music of artists from the diaspora that touch the soul.
