NS Flex: No need to have money on your OV card, you’re now able to pay at the end of the month!

No money? No problem!

Starting from today (Mon 3rd Sept), all commuters in the Netherlands can choose to ‘pay at the end of the month’, if they have a personalised OV chipcard. This means that travellers do not need to ensure that they have enough money on their cards before they travel – they get billed for it at the end of the month.

We’ve all been there, we’ve either somehow stupidly left our bank cards at home or we’re late to work and we don’t have the sufficient 10 or 20 euros on our cards to catch the train, so it leaves you even later. Now, this won’t be a problem. You just scan in and out the gates with no worry at all on how much you have on there!

NS Flex

This brand new service called NS Flex will apply to every form of transport in the Netherlands, including the metro, trains, NS bikes, buses and trams. You have to sign up for the service and pay only 1 euro per month (usually) or a one-time payment of 10 euros – it all depends on what subscription you want. For more info, check out their website. You can even check your balance on the app. It’s definitely a game changer.

What do you think about this new NS service? Let us know in the comments!
