A 23-year-old Dutchman had his licence seized after German police caught him weaving through midday traffic at over 235 km/h in a Porsche 911.
According to a press release from the Koblenz traffic police, officers were driving an unmarked patrol car when the Porsche came flying up behind them.
Tailgating, speeding, and overtaking on the right

Police say the driver tailgated their unmarked car, then repeatedly overtook on the right, which is illegal in Germany. But that’s not all — he “consistently exploited every available gap in traffic”, the release states, “cutting in directly in front of other vehicles and continuing at very high speed.”
It was during this chase that the Porsche hit speeds above 235 km/h, despite heavy traffic. Officers say it was “sheer luck” that the entire chase didn’t end in a crash.
Was he high on his own supply?
After the police finally pulled the speedster over, they found signs of recent drug use. A preliminary drug test also came back positive for THC.
The driver told police he runs a coffeeshop in Eindhoven with his father, and that he regularly uses cannabis for “professional reasons.” (Yes, you read that right: “aus beruflichen Gründen“, or “for professional reasons.”)
A blood sample was ordered and taken. Whether that explanation will help his case is, let’s say, doubtful.
That’ll be €10k, sir
Because the driver wasn’t a German resident and wouldn’t share details about his income, police set a Sicherheitsleistung (a security deposit) to guarantee criminal proceedings.
Due to “the overall circumstances and the financial situation demonstrated by the suspect”, this was settled at €10,000, and paid on the spot. His Dutch driving licence was then seized, and his father came to pick him up.
However, the saga doesn’t quite end there for our speedster: investigations into his “illegal motor vehicle race” and “endangerment of road traffic” are currently ongoing.
