Get ready for a possible tropical heatwave coming your way next week

Did you think that the recent thunderstorms meant that the temperatures would be cooling down? Think again because temperatures are might go beyond 30 degrees next week, bringing us the first heat wave of the year, reports RTLNieuws.

What is classified as a heatwave in the Netherlands?

The chances of a heatwave next week is 30-40%. “We speak of a heat wave when there are five days nationwide with 25 degrees or higher, of which there are also three days above 30 degrees,” says Nicolien Kroon from Buienradar. And apparently, there’s a chance of that next week!

What temperatures can you expect?

According to Het Parool, the astronomical summer is supposed to start on June 21, i.e., tomorrow! The temperatures are going to be around 18 to 22 degrees today and tomorrow, with a small chance of cooling showers today. The weather on Saturday is pleasant with temperatures ranging between 19 degrees to 24 degrees in the country.

The hot weather is going to take over starting from Sunday when temperatures are expected to be 25 degrees. Monday is when it will most likely gradually increase to 30 degrees. It is nearly certain that it will be 30 degrees or higher on Tuesday and Wednesday, with a “chance of 35 degrees along the eastern border of the country”. If these temperatures continue on Thursday, it will officially be a heatwave. The temperatures for the rest of the week is still not set in stone.
