Most liveable city for expats after #Brexit: Rotterdam!

Another day, another list that the Netherlands tops again

Are you getting sick of us always touting Netherlands’ horn when it comes to the most liveable cities for expats? I can’t blame you: in the last couple of months alone, four Dutch cities were ranked as one of the most liveable for European expats, and Amsterdam was ranked 12th in Mercer’s Quality of Life index.

Well, sorry to disappoint and to make you feel like you’re living in a pretty nice country because we have another announcement to make.

Rotterdam is the most liveable city for expats in western and northern Europe!

Phew, that was a mouth (or handful) to say or type (?).

But do you want to know what’s different this time? Dispatches Europe has come up with a list of 5 European cities for expats to live after the 29th of March, that is after Brexit. They believe that a no-deal Brexit is most likely to happen, and a lot of companies, like BMW, are preparing for this scenario. They have taken into account the migratory patterns of Eastern Europeans, the ageing working population for high-skilled jobs, and the high percentage of English speakers in the city.

They have also looked at other factors like cost of living as compared to London, housing possibilities, and career and education opportunities among other things.

And don’t forget about these pretty buildings coming to Rotterdam:

Bear with us, we are giving you more reasons to consider living in cities outside of the capital.

Rotterdam was not the only liveable Dutch city on the list

Can you guess? It’s Eindhoven which comes in second. While this city beat out Rotterdam in ECA’s list, Dispatches Europe seems to disagree. The other cities that made it on their list are Tallin in third, Vienna in fourth, and Ljubljana in fifth. Pretty different from the other lists where western and northern European cities dominate their lists.

If you want to know what were the exact factors they used, check it out on their website! Let us know in comments if you agree or if you (especially) don’t!
