Fire in Papendrecht leaves four dead, 2 of them children. Police suspect a ‘family drama’

In a fire in a house on the Cremerstraat in Papendrecht in Zuid-Holland, four people died on Saturday morning.

Two of the fatalities are children who were four and six years old. The perished man and woman were 32 years old, reports the police. The cause of the fire is still unknown. The police investigate the circumstances of the incident.

The police have a strong indication that a ‘family drama’ has taken place. The police concluded that after an initial investigation. This is usually an euphemism that the father set the house on fire himself, sometimes it’s the mom, but not that often.

Emergency services found victims on the ground floor

The first report of the fire, which eventually was quickly extinguished, arrived at the fire brigade around 10.45 am and afterwards the emergency services rushed out en masse. The trauma helicopter was also called up for the incident. Emergency services found the victims on the ground floor in the house.
