Man arrested for the van crash incident at Pinkpop festival

The driver of the van who crashed into people at the Pinkpop festival has turned himself over to the police in Amsterdam. Here is everything we know so far.

The driver is a local man

The driver is a local 34-year-old man from Heerlen. He turned himself in later on Monday morning at a police station in Amsterdam. He also told the police officers where they could find the van in which he was driving. According to police the driver is suspected of manslaughter and attempted manslaughter. It is still not clear whether the crash was deliberate or an accident. The suspect will be handed over to Limburg police later on Monday.

The victims of the car crash at Pinkpop

According to police reports, the fatal car crash has killed one and seriously injured three others. It has now been revealed that the victim who has died is a 35-year-old man who was a volunteer at the festival. He and two of the injured victims are from Heerlen as well. The fourth person is from Landgraaf, where the festival is held. The police have yet to confirm if there is a connection between the victims and the driver of the van.
