Code Orange warning: Heavy gusts of wind tonight!

A storm is coming towards the Netherlands! Who is excited and who is absolutely terrified?

Our prayers have been answered – but it’s not quite what we bargained for. Tonight for most of the country we are expecting quite a storm. In South Holland, North Holland, Zeeland, Flevoland, Friesland and the Wadden Islands they are expecting up to 110 km/ph winds. For these areas, it’s considered a code orange. Crazy!

Storm coming to the Netherlands

Throughout the rest of the country, it will be a code yellow, with winds reaching 90 km/ph. At some points throughout the Netherlands, local wind force 9 may be possible in the early hours of the morning. This will cause damage, as it can pull trees down and the rain can cause localised flooding.

As we have had a drought for a while now, the risking of flooding is quite high and some people are already taking precautions just in case.

In case you haven’t noticed, the rain is coming into the south now, with some thunderstorms and hail already starting.

You asked for rain, now look what you’ve done. I hope you’re happy! 😉

Are you excited about the upcoming rain? Or do you already miss the hot weather? Let us know in the comments below!
