Dutch TV personality Emile Ratelband wants to change his age since transgender people can change gender

A Dutch man and former TV personality, Emile Ratelband, wants to change his age legally in order to improve his dating life. Here is more on this wacky story.

Dutch man wants to change his age

A 69-year-old Dutch man by the name of Emile Ratelband wants to become younger and he is involving the government! He argues that since transgender people can legally change their gender identity, then he should be allowed to change his age. Emile says he identifies as a 49-year-old, and believes this change in his age will help improve his dating life on Tinder. The logic on this one is impeccable!

Emile, who is an entrepreneur and self-help guru (and, well, eccentric), has been told by doctors he has the body of a 45-year-old despite being born in 1949. In his own words, he has expressed his frustration, stating that:

When I’m 69, I am limited. If I’m 49, then I can buy a new house, drive a different car. I can take up more work.

When I’m on Tinder and it says I’m 69, I don’t get an answer. When I’m 49, with the face I have, I will be in a luxurious position.”

“I have done a check-up and what does it show? My biological age is 45 years.”

This sounds awfully familiar.

The legal battle to change his age

In order to prove that age is just a number, Emile has launched a legal battle to change his birthday. His case has now gone to a court in the city of Arnhem, where within the next few weeks a judge will decide on the fate of Emile’s love life.

He strongly believes that since transgenders can now have their gender changed on their birth certificate, then he should be able to change his birth year to 1969 (cheeky number he’s got there).

The Dutchman further argues that due to his legal age he encounters problems in society on a daily basis. This includes discrimination from companies who are reluctant to hire a pensioner. Emile also vowed that by legally changing his age, he would also renounce his pension until he reaches retirement age (again).

The court is due to deliver a written ruling within four weeks, so we’ll have to wait and see. But we can’t help but wonder how much mayhem this will cause within our society. For one, teenagers will be pushing to change their age just to buy alcohol. I for one identify as an 80-year-old, and would very much like to start receiving my pension, thank you very much!

  1. What, no surgery? You could have new hips and other worn out parts, hormone treatment to keep a young hormone balance, and everything you might need to enjoy sex like a 49yr old can.
