Eurovision 2019: Duncan Laurence’s song has gone Double Platinum in the Netherlands

It may come to no surprise but in under 24 hours, Duncan Laurence’s Arcade was certified Double Platinum in the Netherlands, it was reported yesterday by NOS.

‘Double Platinum’ means that his single has sold 1,000,000 copies in the Netherlands and this was all within 24 hours – mad!

On the talk show Pauw, he was congratulated on his win and to his surprise, he was presented with a double platinum disk. Pretty damn impressive considering he was virtually unheard of in the Netherlands before Eurovision. And hey, this may be biased, but it really is a great song. Check YouTube, it has millions of views on all versions of the song (live, music video etc).

The Netherlands was a favourite to win and we did it!

The Netherlands is still buzzing with the fact that it won Eurovision after all this time (since 1975). People who gave up on Eurovision years ago suddenly come out of the woodwork and then we’re all interested. NOS reports that when talking on the show Pauw, after Duncan was asked if he was nervous being a favourite, he said: “no, actually not.” Fair play, most of us would all be pooing ourselves!

Eurovision is coming to the Netherlands next year

Almost as soon as we all found out that the Netherlands had won, everyone started buzzing about the fact that Eurovision will be held in the country next year (tickets anyone!?)

Check the music video here:

Did you love the song as much as we did? Let us know in the comments!
