Hail, gusts, and (of course) rain: Code Yellow issued across the Netherlands

In other words: more rain.

The Netherlands is nothing if not consistent, so prepare for heavy rain and thunderstorms to finish off the week.

The KNMI has issued a ‘Code Yellow’ across the country from 10 AM Thursday, reports AD

That means rain (spoiler: it always means rain), wind gusts of around 65 km/h and — the star of the show — hail.

It’ll be over before the borrel

But fear not! In the west, the warning runs only until 2 PM, just in time to lock down your borrel plans in the group chat.

Eastern provinces get a later start, with Code Yellow in effect from midday until 6 PM.

Planning to sit out at a terrasje into the evening? Layer up because temperatures are set to cool to between 12 and 15 degrees.

It all sounds a bit bleak, but hey, when’s the last time you saw hailstones up to 2cm in diameter? Worth a look out of the window!

Are you missing last week’s sunshine? Let us know in the comments.
