Travellers can now purchase Nederland Dal Vrij for €49 per month, granting unlimited travel during off-peak hours, weekends, and public holidays.
High demand, limited budget
The offer went live Monday, June 15, with reports of the NS website crashing almost immediately after midnight.
Given the combination of Dutch frugality and the country’s notoriously high train fares, the surge in demand comes as little surprise. By late morning, 20,000 subscriptions had already been sold.

NS confirmed to AD that the offer will only remain available until the government-allocated budget of €118 million is drained.
