Current weird, yet cool polling stations
With the Dutch elections now in full swing (we’re half way through now), it’s worth talking about the weird and wonderful places that people have voted in, in the Netherlands. It wouldn’t be a Dutch election without some weird locations that you can vote in. Here’s 7 weird locations that you can currently vote in, in the current municipal elections.
Don’t forget to let us know if you have, or are about to vote in one of these locations!
1) Leiden – by an Egyptian Temple
If you’re in Leiden it’s possible to vote only a few meters away from an ancient (2,000-year-old) Egyptian temple. Again, a nice little bit of history to look at while you’re waiting to conduct your vote.
Vandaag kun je stemmen in meerdere musea, zoals @RM_Oudheden Leiden, @SMSCHDM Schiedam, @Gemeentemuseum Den Haag en vele andere. Ons stemadvies: stem voor cultuur: https://t.co/WZiKUPtkOZ pic.twitter.com/EbKlMAyEH6

2) The Hague – Tram Line
If you’re voting in the Hague, it’s possible to vote on tram line 11, if you aren’t already sick of catching the tram to work everyday.

3) Zuidplas – Drive Thru’
Ever been to a McDonald’s Drive Thru? Well now you can do something even cooler and vote in a drive-thru polling station. This is the first time this has been a thing and apparently, it’s not all that easy. Better luck next time, I guess.

4) Arnhem – 1949 Trolleybus
In Arnhem you can vote inside a 1949 Trolleybus, a mobile polling station that has come back to life to serve the voters. A little bit of history, a little bit of cool, a lot of voting.

5) Gooise Meren – Mayor will get you
Having a bit of an issue voting this time around? Don’t fret – Mayor Han ter Heegte will bring you by bike if you need to. An interesting way to vote to say the least. I wonder how many people he will manage?
Stemmen?

6) Eindhoven – In the Mayors Office
Another Mayor just wanting to help his fellow citizens out. You can vote in Mayor John Jorritsma’s office if you’re looking for something a bit more personal. Hopefully, he isn’t working in there today, the mass of people might be a bit disruptive. 😉

7) Velsen – American School Bus
After another mobile polling station experience? Well in Velsen, voting is taking place on an American School Bus. Another bizarre, yet pretty cool voting experience.
