Rain and temperatures over 20 degrees: wear… everything this week

If you’re one of those people who never knows what to wear at this time of year, you’re going to hate this week.

From rain to temperatures up to 21 degrees, the Netherlands is going to receive quite the mixed bag of weather in the coming days.

So make sure to wear your rain coat (but nothing too heavy), your scarf (but have somewhere to ditch it as well), and your favourite summer jacket (but also an extra layer for later in the evening).

Did you get simultaneously sweaty and cold while reading this? Then you’ve already got a taste for the week ahead.

Sunshine! (With some rain)

This afternoon will see some much-welcomed sunshine across the Netherlands.

Temperatures will shoot up from the nippy 9 to 12 degrees we woke up with this morning, to 16 degrees for those near The Wadden, 17 degrees for those in the centre, and a balmy 18 degrees for those in the south.

However, tonight, a drizzling rain will return, bringing temperatures back down to between 14 to 7 degrees.

Tomorrow will be equally drizzly, but warm (perfect for those of us who want to rock frizzy hair at the office!).

While the rain won’t stop until the late afternoon/beginning of the evening, temperatures will be balmy with 17 degrees expected for the north and 19 for those of us in the Randstad and south.

Wednesday and Thursday will remind us of what we’re about to lose

However, Wednesday and Thursday will offer one last hug from summer before it abandons us for the winter. RTL Nieuws writes of “substantial periods of sunshine” with temperatures reaching 17 to 19 degrees on Wednesday. No need for the rain jacket then (but maybe some sunnies!).

Thursday offers a similar story, with temperatures set to be even higher. In fact, Limburg (it’s always Limburg) will see temperatures as high as 21 degrees. Those of us up north will still get to enjoy 18 degrees.

However, Friday will then remind us that we are, in fact, in the middle of October. Rain will move back in from the afternoon, and temperatures will drop back down to a more autumnal 16 degrees.
