Another National Heat Plan will start on Saturday: over 30 degrees expected

Ok, we're getting tired of this.

Yet another National Heat Plan has been announced for parts of the Netherlands as more sweltering conditions are expected in the coming days.

When temperatures are persistently above 27 degrees, a National Heat Plan is activated. Unfortunately for some regions, this will be exactly the case this weekend.

Starting tomorrow, the National Heat Plan (and a Code Yellow weather warning) will be in place for Zeeland, South Holland, North Brabant, Limburg, Utrecht, Gelderland, and Overijssel, according to NOS.

Temperatures above 30 degrees

Get the fans out and perhaps find a separate bed for your partner. The KNMI is expecting the average temperature to sit at around 29 degrees this weekend.

And it’s only going to get warmer with temperatures of up to 32 degrees expected for the days that follow.

It’s not just the heat that’s going to have us struggling, however. They’re also warning that the UV index is about to get very high for the coming days — so protect your pale friends and don’t judge them for their factor 50.

Drink plenty of water

The RIVM is stepping in for all of us whose mothers are in another country, warning that everyone should make sure to drink plenty of water.

They also want us to remember the signs of overheating: headaches, dizziness, fatigue, and extreme thirst.

The National Heat Plan primarily exists to warn caregivers and vulnerable groups about the incoming heat. When temperatures are this high for consistent period of time, the sick and elderly are particularly at risk.

This marks the second time this summer that the National Heat Plan has been launched, and it’s only July… Time to raid the appie for ijsjes, and maybe avoid sunbathing.
