Reminder: No trains are running to Schiphol this weekend!

Think twice about your travel plans this weekend people…

Track manager ‘ProRail’ will be working on the track at Schiphol and around Schiphol for four days from Thursday, January 17th, which means that limited train travel is possible from and to the airport.

The first two days you can still travel by train from Amsterdam Central to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, but on the weekend of the 19th and 20th of January, the airport cannot be reached by train at all, yikes!

In the period of these four days (starting Thursday at 13:00 to Monday 17:15) no trains will run, but the Dutch Railways (NS) report that buses will be available for you on the route between Schiphol Airport and Leiden.

Wait there’s more!

The direct intercity will not run on the Amsterdam Central-Rotterdam Central route. On the weekend, buses also run on the Amsterdam Sloterdijk / Amsterdam Zuid-Schiphol route and the Diemen Zuid-Duivendrecht route instead of trains. Be warned that at the stops, there are still check-in and check-out poles.

The reason behind this ‘calamity’ is that ProRail will work these four days at dozens of locations on railway maintenance and the electricity supply at Schiphol Airport.

So, buckle up if you need to travel this weekend and let us know in the comments below if the trains had any impact on your journey!
