Affected by the Albert Heijn cyberattack? Here’s how the supermarket is making it up to you

The website is back online

Albert Heijn is offering €10 in shop credit, along with Air Miles and loyalty stamps, to customers who were affected by the cyberattack that kept its app and deliveries offline for over a week.

According to a media statement, Albert Heijn, Etos, and Gall & Gall have all been dealing with a cybersecurity incident since Sunday afternoon, October 11.

Several systems were shut down as a precaution, leading customers to miss out on online deliveries, personal discounts, and more.

Now, in a bid to ensure that customers are adequately compensated, AH is rolling out several automatic compensation schemes.

From store credit to an extra €5 discount

In particular, the following automatic compensation schemes are already underway:

  • Cancelled deliveries: If your order was cancelled due to the outage, you’ll be refunded the amount you paid within the next few working days. In addition, you’ll receive €10 store credit as compensation, which will be deducted from your next order.
  • AH Premium: You’ll receive compensation for the missed 10% discount on AH Terra and organic products, in the form of a coupon. You’ll find this in ‘My Credit’ in the My AH app later this week.
  • Air Miles: Any missed Air Miles will be credited to your balance.
  • Pan savings promotion: If you were in the midst of collecting stamps for a new pan when the outage occurred, you’ll receive two full savings cards in the form of a coupon later this week. This can then be redeemed for an extra €5 discount on the purchase of a pan.

However, koopzegels require a trip to the supermarket

If you’ve missed any koopzegels (saving stamps) due to the outage, AH advises you to come to the store with your receipt.

You can also access your digital receipts in the My AH App if you’ve scanned for your groceries with your personal Bonus Card.

Not all features are online yet

While bonus offers are visible in the app and on the website once again, your personal Bonus Box is sadly staying offline for a little longer. According to Albert Heijn, the feature isn’t working properly, but they’re working hard to get it up and running.

Helaas, if you’ve got a Bezorgbundel or Rittendeal, these are also unavailable for now. The supermarket is working on a way to compensate this group of customers.
