Due to maintenance work on the tracks around Amsterdam Centraal, you may experience changes in departure times, transfers, and routes while commuting via this station.
According to rail manager ProRail, this spot of maintenance is intended to improve track infrastructure at numerous locations and is key preparation for “extensive work” planned this October.
In addition to prep work, contractors will also be “maintaining switches, switch heating, overhead lines, and railway bridges” at twelve locations on and around the tracks.
Work is expected to run from 5 AM on Saturday, September 12, to 5 AM on Monday, September 14.
No trains to Weesp
If you’re commuting between Amsterdam Centraal and Weesp this weekend, you may want to arrange alternative transport.
No trains will run between the two stations from Saturday, September 12, till Sunday, September 13, while ProRail renews switches along this route.
Work near Amsterdam Science Park and Muiderpoort
While no closures have been announced for the Amsterdam Science Park or Muiderpoort stations, ProRail confirms that they’re carrying out “various preparatory works” in the area.
If you’re heading to either station this weekend, keep an eye on your journey planner and don’t rule out possible delays or route alterations.
The rail manager stresses that bundling all this work into one weekend lets them “get a lot of work done in a short time and limit disruption for travellers and the surrounding area”.
More disruptions from October 3
We’re in for another bout of rail disruptions come October, as ProRail begins the next phase of their maintenance work.
No trains will run to or from Amsterdam Centraal on Saturday, October 3, and “significantly fewer trains” will run until Monday, October 5.
If you’re commuting from Amsterdam Centraal this weekend or from October 3, the rail manager’s advice is simple: check your journey planner before departure, and don’t rule out changes to departure times, transfers, and routes.
