Dutch alarm fails to go off today (opps!)

Dutch sirens fail to sound today

What a literal fail. So as most of us know, on the first Monday of every month, the Dutch alarm systems go off in the whole of the Netherlands. We posted an article about it beforehand just to warn you. Awkwardly enough a lot of us didn’t hear the usual blaring alarm at midday today, so our article wasn’t much help. A couple of DutchReview editors also mentioned that they didn’t hear it and some of us did. If you didn’t, don’t worry you weren’t going mad.

or not….

Alarm malfunction

The alarm system actually malfunctioned – which is the whole point of testing it in the first place. A lot of places all over the Netherlands did not hear the alarm. It’s currently being investigated (what the hell happened there), as they need to test them by law.

The purpose of the alarm is to ensure that people are informed about serious incidents. If you’re worried, sign up to NL-Alert on your phones and you’ll get a text if anything bad happens. I’m sure we’ll all be okay though, just chill. 😉

Did you hear the alarm today? Let us know. Also, don’t forget to join our Facebook group if you haven’t already. You know you wanna!
