Dutch Designer combating food wastage through awesome 3D printed food

3D-Printed food? Say what now?

About one third of the food produced in the world is wasted. Can you guess which is the most wasted food in the Netherlands? It’s bread!

Fruits and vegetables are a second because you always have that one carrot that looks like a miniature person.

Always fun to make these memes, but not always appealing to eat, right?

Dutch designer, Elzelinde van Doleweerd and Vita Broeken who are dedicated to combat food wastage in the Netherlands, is working to use 3D printed foods at Uprinting Food. They create their food by blending together ingredients so that a paste is created. This paste is used to print the food using a 3D printer.

Hailing from India, she frequently blogs about the Netherlands, being Indian in the Netherlands, and everything in between. She envisions herself to one day be the youngest person to win that Nobel Prize for Literature (she is also not very humble but welcomes only constructive criticism). In the meantime, she fills her days with writing for DutchReview, writing her master's thesis on art theft, and writing fiction that will hopefully see the light of day soon.
