A man was caught doing 100 km/h on his fatbike on Sunday afternoon — four times the legal limit of 25 km/h. The driver has since been fined, and his fatbike seized.
NU.nl reported the incident after police in the Boxtel, Vught, and Sint-Michielsgestel area shared details on Instagram.
Officers confirmed on Instagram that the fatbike has been confiscated, with its fate now in the hands of the public prosecutor.
A wider problem
While a standard fatbike tops out at around 25 km/h, performance-modified models have become increasingly common in recent years, capable of reaching far higher speeds.
The case comes as fatbikes have become a growing source of frustration in the Netherlands.
A new government campaign launched today aims to address driver misconduct, reports NOS.
