The I Amsterdam letters are back… for now!
We were so sad to hear that the I Amsterdam letters on the Museumplein were going to be removed and no one was completely certain what was going to happen with them next. BUT, they’re making a temporary comeback.
It’s now been 3 months later and the decision has been made to return the letters back for the Provincial Council elections. The letters will be back in their rightful place from Tuesday (yes Tuesday!), but this time with a slight alteration. A voting pencil will be added to the letters and there will be a voting booth next to the I Amsterdam sign. This is were Mayor Halsema will cast her vote the following day, before other Amsterdam residents get to vote themselves there.
The sign will then be removed after 2 days. *cry*
The VVD isn’t happy about this, as it’s seen as an election stunt, which is not what the letters were there for in the first place. However, it seems like it’s going ahead nevertheless.
