The Netherlands is in for a warm, sunny weekend with highs near 30 degrees

Nazomer to the rescue 🌞

The Netherlands is racing towards a warm, late-summer weekend, with Sunday and Monday promising plenty of sunshine and summery temperatures.

If you’ve been mourning the end of Dutch summer, you may want to hold on to your swimming trunks, because the weather has one last hurrah up its sleeve.

A high-pressure system is drifting our way from the west, reports Buienradar, bringing clearer skies and warmer temperatures. However, before you make any outdoor plans, we have to weather a blustery Friday.

When does the warm weather arrive?

Temperatures will start trending upwards this Saturday (September 5), when the high-pressure area hits the Netherlands.

Expect alternating bouts of clear sunshine and clouds, and a few isolated showers in the north. By afternoon, it’ll be dry in most places, with temperatures ranging from 20 to 22 degrees Celsius.

Come Sunday, warm air blowing from the south to southeast will turn the Netherlands summery, with temperatures around 27 to 28 degrees.

Monday will offer much of the same, with temperatures close to 30 degrees possible in the south. While the day will offer plenty of sunshine, Buienradar warns that nighttime may bring a few local showers.

Enjoy it while it lasts

Helaas, good things don’t last. From Tuesday, a new low-pressure area will move southwards across the North Sea, turning the weather cooler and more changeable.

By Wednesday, Buienradar notes that temperatures will “struggle to reach the 20-degree mark”, putting the final nail in the coffin to any plans for tapas on a terrasje.
