Load up that barbecue and pump up those floaties, because the only way any of us is surviving the next few days is in a body of water — the sea, a pool, a canal, take your pick!
With a code yellow heat warning active till Saturday, Weeronline forecasts a proper tropical week, with temperatures climbing as high as a sweaty 37 degrees.
According to RTL Nieuws, there’s a real chance this could set a new June heat record.
Easing into the inferno
At least Mother Nature is easing us in. At first, we can expect summery highs of 24 to 31 degrees around the country on Monday and Tuesday.
Watch out for the UV, though — it’ll hit seven, with the sun out until 10 PM, so lather up the suncream unless you’re planning to go full lobster.
Monday and Tuesday night are your reprieve, with temperatures dropping to a much more reasonable 13 to 18 degrees. Use them wisely.
Send help (and an ijsje)
Then it gets serious. Wednesday brings up to 35 degrees and somehow, no wind at all — yes, apparently that’s possible.
By Thursday and Friday, you’ll want to call in sick because the only thing hitting 37 degrees will be the thermostat and your blood pressure when you see the packed beach at Scheveningen.
These sweltering highs are expected in the southeast of the Netherlands, with an average of 35 degrees throughout the country.
